I haven't posted these to this journal yet. I guess I should do that for... posterity? Though I'm not really sure why I'm doing this at all anymore, except that I hate not finishing things. But school needs to go die, it makes me want to not do anything but sleep.

theme #26 "if only I could make you mine"

Haku moved like water, and water seemed to permeate every part of his life. His was the path of least resistance - following Zabuza, though difficult, was the easiest choice for him. It always had been. Still, Haku was strong in every way. Like a river, he could wear down the most immovable objects.

Like Zabuza.

It wasn't entirely conscious. Haku had not set out with the intent to seduce Zabuza, it simply happened. Like it was natural, inevitable, and maybe it was. His constant, soft, nearly unnoticable affection had worn away at Zabuza's stone-cold facade - in a way.

And so they were here. Zabuza was Haku's first kiss. First everything. He didn't mind, everything that he had to give was already Zabuza's. He killed for Zabuza, he lived for Zabuza. And what was sex - something you saved for someone you loved? Haku could not think of a person in the world that he loved more than Zabuza. Not even close.

Haku was not a fool. He knew his feelings weren't returned, at least not as fully. Zabuza saw him as a useful tool. If those thoughts also extended to Haku as a bed-partner, what difference did it make? Haku was happy to help in any way, and he had desired Zabuza since he was old enough to understand what desire was.

They moved together in a way that was not entirely unlike fighting - Zabuza was rough, demanding. After their fights, after they killed, he would reach for Haku. And Haku was there, always, and they would fuck like there was nothing else. It wasn't sweet, it wasn't anything like a romantic dream - but it was Zabuza, and so Haku was happy.

Afterwards, Zabuza would relax, spent from the fight and from Haku. Haku would watch quietly, feeling the aches in his body, as Zabuza slipped into a light sleep. He would watch over Zabuza, though there was usually no need.

And it was enough.

"Zabuza-san, I got our supplies."

Zabuza looked up only long enough to note that Haku was indeed back, and did indeed have supplies. The only response Haku recieved was a noncommital grunt before Zabuza went back to rewrapping the bandages on his arm - just a light scratch received on their last job, nothing to worry about.

Haku hummed softly as he sorted through their things and put the food away, most of it dried and easy to transport. They would be on the move soon, after all. Still, he'd gotten a few more frivolous items.

It was only much later that Zabuza noticed those, when he was retrieving a kunai that needed to be cleaned. He looked at the small box, then looked darkly at Haku, who merely smiled at him.

"Don't waste money on things like this," Zabuza said, more an order than any type of request. But that was how he was, and Haku didn't mind.

"I would never do that, Zabuza-san. One of the storekeepers gave them to me for free," Haku said, picking up the box and opening it. He took out one of the fresh strawberries and held it out to Zabuza. "Try it, they're good."

Zabuza glanced at his hands, occupied with kunai and spare rags. He scowled at Haku, but before Haku could move, Zabuza had leaned forward and taken a bite of the small berry. His lips brushed Haku's fingers, and Haku couldn't suppress a faint blush.

"If they were free, that's fine," was all Zabuza said. Then he turned back to his task, for all intents and purposes ignoring Haku.

But that was how he was, and Haku didn't mind.
