So, I'm bored. Waiting to hear back from my father- at this point the initial nerves have faded and I wish he'd just write back already. But there are lots of things I could do but don't feel like doing- look for a job, write, watch anime, play games, call people, visit people I said I would. Roleplay. But instead, I'm going to make a list of roleplaying characters that I have played. Like... ever. So this will be a little long. Original characters and non, tabletop and internet. Some I can't remember, because I have a bad memory, so... those of you who know? If I miss one, feel free to remind me. Particularly Lyra and Kels, as our high school games are hazy to me now. :P
I'll throw in a little explanation and some timeframe information on each of them. Feel free not to read this if you don't want to, I really just saw a post like this and it got me thinking, so yeah.
In somewhat chronological order.
Jewl - Oh god, the first. From when I was in grade school. A complete Mary Sue. A sea nymph princess (her father's kingdom was the Caribbean, I believe). It wasn't quite an RPG, what we did, but it definitely wasn't just 'playing pretend'. I still have lists of characters, important places, history, drawn layouts of castles and such, and lots of other kinds of things. I have them somewhere, anyway. Haven't looked at them in ages.
Peregrine - Created during junior high. There were probably some between these first two, but I can't remember. Pere was a character I made for a game with Kels and some internet friends, he was a pretty little boy who crossdressed and was wacky. I didn't play him for very long, but I remember he was actually pretty fun.
Kurayami - Oh god. Created during junior high as well, which is horrible because I played him for years and am STILL asked to do so occasionally. This wouldn't be so bad if the character weren't, like... well. Multicolored hair and special eyes, wacky magic, sullen and depressed at first (until I got bored with that, but he was never really a super nice character). There are so many things I could say, having played him for so long, but... yeah. Created as a semi-Sue, and became even MORE so throughout the course of the game through no fault of my own. The GM just kept DOING things, and I'd go along with them, and before I knew it he was the son of the devil and somehow ruling heaven. Like I said, the game went on for a LONG time (and is still going on, though I don't do much anymore unless asked to, because I'm not so into it and my character makes me cringe a little). It was a big part of my life through high school.
Janus - Created... late junior high? Early high school? Can't remember. Anyway, my first real D&D/tabletop character. I didn't really do a lot with him, because my default tabletop 'manner' is quiet follower. But he was good at that, and became pretty powerful, until he'd follow the group around until we engaged in combat and then KICK ASS ROYALLY. It was fun, I learned a lot about tabletop, and those kids we played with were cool. (Druid: "We can't burn that, it's a forest! I won't let you." DM: "Well, it an artificial forest..." Druid: "Oh. Let's torch it.")
Various other tabletop characters with Ironlands and such - I can't remember the names or anything. But throughout the first couple years of high school, I had a succession of tabletop characters for one shots (and campaigns that I didn't play in). This was around the time I realized I liked playing male characters better, for various reasons (which I have talked about at length to some of you, but the main reason boils down to 'Guy roleplayers can be creepy').
Yahoo!Groups characters - Around 2000 and 2001, I played with Kels and Lyra online. Like, a lot. A lot. In various anime fandoms. Those were good times, although I look back and cringe occasionally. Still, good times. Characters I played that I can remember... Ken and Yamato from Digimon (don't judge!). Seishirou from X (I had to go to the game and check to see who I'd played, then I was like... OF COURSE it was Seishirou). Kaoru from Flame of Recca (it's been so long since I've seen that show!). Umm... various OCs, I think. Some Harry Potter characters maybe? Hm. There were so many games, and I don't even have most of them on my Y!Groups account anymore, so I can't check.
Alex - And now we get into Legion (our gaming group's name) tabletop characters, from the later part of my high school life. Alex was created for an In Nomine game. Still my favorite tabletop system! But anyway. He was a cute, not terribly smart demon of Lust. Eventually he redeemed and became an angel of Dreams. He was mainly useless, but cute. And his angelic name is the name of this journal.
Kyle - Another Legion character, created for a Teenagers from Outer Space anime-style game. He was a mad scientist! And so much fun. His special skill was the ability to 'MacGuyver' things- create incredibly complex devices out of a piece of string, five nuts and bolts of varying size, a banana, and some toothpaste. When the characters got a vehicle, he made it BETTER. And painted flames on the side. Because that was what Kyle did. Man, he was fun to play.
Kieran - Legion again. Made for another In Nomine game. He was fun to play too, though he pissed Kels off a lot. Sorry, Kels. Kieran was a Balseraph of Fate, which means his demon ability was to lie and be believed, and his ability from Fate was to mimic an angelic ability. So he passed himself off as an angel serving the Archangel of Flowers and infiltrated the main group of (angelic) PCs. He, um... basically screwed them all over and managed to come out more or less ahead, even though he was revealed as a demon partway through the campaign. Kieran was just a complete bastard, and one of the most actually evil characters I've played. And he pulled it off well.
Adam - Legion, oh those times. Adam was from a Firefly-based game. They flew through space in their spaceship and had wacky adventures. Adam was basically the flip side of Kyle, in a way. He was a genius mechanic, like Kyle, but instead of being the wacky mad scientist type, he was uptight and more than a little OCD. Everything had to be neat and clean and right in its place. He wasn't very sociable.
Various other Legion characters - From one shots and campaigns that never got off the ground. We had more than a few of those. But I can't really remember them.
Fire Emblem - Around this time, there was the Fire Emblem game, right? A internet journal-based game, the first one I'd done, really, but it was fun. Over here. Thus beginning my preference for GJ and its immense icon space. Anyway, I modded and also played Hector (great_lord), Lucius (elimines_light), and Wil (normalarcher3). Those were fun times, though it never really got off the ground due to my laziness. Now I want to replay Fire Emblem... I only have Sacred Stones, though. AND ANTHONY'S GAMECUBE GAME! Ooh.
Maria - Then I went to college. And played more tabletop games. Maria was my character in a Buffy game, with all OCs. She was... what was it? A totem warrior or something. So she was more powerful than a human, but not as strong as a Slayer. It was fun, though she didn't really do much and the other players in the game made her become more like me (I don't really like playing characters really similar to myself, which is another reason I usually play guys). Maria was my first female character in awhile, because the guys at Evergreen have trouble wrapping their heads around the thought that a GIRL can play BOYS.
Serstan - From later that first year of college, an Exalted game. She was an archer, and generally badass. We didn't play the game for all that long, but while we did I had a lot of fun and liked playing her. But really, I like internet games more than tabletop, so I've played less and less tabletop. Plus I got really busy for awhile there.
Various other Evergreen tabletop characters - Again, usually for one-shots or campaigns that went nowhere. Like I said, I've been playing tabletop less and less as time goes on. While I still enjoy it, internet games are usually better time investments (I can do multiple things at once) and are more relaxing/fun for me, so I play those more. I haven't played in a tabletop game for... man, a year or so.
Affirmation - My Buffy/Angel-based game. Nominally in that universe, but with all OCs and plenty of new wacky stuff. I GMed this game, and it was run through Yahoo!Groups. I actually started it during high school, but it went through phases of on-and-offness, so it happened during college too. I played any necessary NPCs as well as a few key characters of my own: Lucas, a sweet, innocent boy psychic who was half-demon; Arien, an incredibly bitchy black magician who sold his soul to a powerful demon but wasn't really too evil (just lacked morals); and Drake, the CEO of the Seattle branch of Wolfram & Hart, a powerful and genial evil lawyer/businessman who caused lots of trouble. I haven't really played any of these characters in about a year, either, but Lyra mentioned she might want to play Matthew again. I'd be up for that. :P
Konoha Village - Lyra's journal-based Naruto game. Here. Dead now, but it was fun while it lasted. I played Shikamaru (cloud_watcher), Neji (kago_ni_tori), and Kabuto (sound_nin). Every once in awhile I get bored and go back and read some of the exchanges, like Kiba flirting with Shikamaru or Lee and Kabuto becoming friends. Because oh god. So funny. And Jiraiya and Kabuto flirting horribly, and LEE. Oh, Lee... ;_; Yeah, that game was fun. ♥
Tenipuri HS - After Konoha Village died, I didn't really play in any games at all for like... six months, because I was busy. Then finally I had some free time, and was really into Prince of Tennis, and well... yeah. You know how it goes. I made a game, which is here, and still going. I'm modding and play Fuji (tsubame_gaeshi), Gakuto (fly_higher), and Yukimura (rikkai_buchou). It's been pretty fun, barring a few bumps here and there. My only wish is for Fuji to be less emo. XD But if all goes well, soon he'll be angry instead, which is an improvement.
And now it's summer! And I have all kinds of free time! So maybe I'll join more games, or... something. I don't know. Yeah. I'm sure I left all sorts of characters and games out, but my fingers are tired. This has been a fun trip down memory lane, though. I am such an incredible nerd.

Date: 2006-06-25 03:41 am (UTC)Kiba was great. He and Shikamaru had the best interactions. XD I don't remember if Kiba 'talked' with Neji... if he did, it probably wasn't much. ^^ I think Neji would've shut him down pretty fast.
I don't remember was I was doing in Affirmation anymore! You're always welcome to IM me and RP though. :P Characters lurk in the back of my brain forever.
