All right! With this I am done with the request meme. Now I guess I should work on my [livejournal.com profile] khrfest fics. That should be fun!

Requested by [livejournal.com profile] violeteyedhair, who got an extra request because I wanted to write more 1869 I am just that nice. She asked for MukuHiba and 'ring'.

Hibari weighed the box carefully in his hand, and then walked into the Vongola headquarters library. There Mukuro was, reading some priceless book, feet clad in ridiculous boots propped up on the table, a glass of some unidentifiable pink liquid (probably alcoholic) next to him despite the clear rules against drinks near the books.

With pinpoint accuracy, he lobbed the box right at Mukuro's head. Irritatingly, Mukuro caught it without even looking up from his book.

"What's this?" Mukuro said, peering at the box and then at Hibari. Not waiting for a response, he opened it. "Oh, Kyoya, you shouldn't have." He batted his eyelashes at Hibari in an utterly horrifying way, smiling a sweet smile that was all kinds of wrong. "Tsunayoshi will be so happy you're finally making an honest man of me. He was getting worried, you know, all this time and no ring... it's just not appropriate, us seeing each other without a chaperone like this. People talk, it's scandalous."

"Shut up," Hibari said, choosing to pretend he had heard none of that. Sawada's librarians would not be happy if he ended up destroying their prize collection, as satisfying as it would be to beat Mukuro to death with a dictionary.

Mukuro did not shut up. He was probably physically incapable of it. "I'm not sure about this, though. I was really hoping for a diamond. You know how much I love traditions."

That was blatantly untrue and also stupid, and so Hibari chose once again to ignore it. "It's a Mist ring. I don't want it."

Mukuro plucked the ring out of the box with long fingers, surveying it carefully. "It could be rather useful..." He smiled at Hibari, a more natural one this time (as much as any of Mukuro's smiles were natural). "Thank you, Kyoya."

"It's worthless to me," Hibari said, and before Mukuro could say anything else, he walked away.

With luck, it would be a long time before Mukuro remembered that Hibari could also use Mist rings.
