30_kisses, theme #1: look over here
They're in a village, just a regular everyday village, no ninja in sight. None but them, of course. Zabuza is on guard, as always. As if anyone would cause trouble, with him looking ready to kill anyone who so much as glances at them wrong.
They're here for supplies, and possibly work, though Zabuza doesn't seem to have much hope for that, not in a peaceful village like this.
Haku is following him, carrying the majority of their purchases - food, mainly. It isn't much. They don't have a lot of money at the moment.
His eye is caught by movement. Nothing to worry him, just enough to catch his attention for a moment, and distract him utterly. A family, a mother and her child, saying goodbye to her husband. It's a typical domestic scene, something that happens everyday.
He watches them silently, drinking in that soft affection. The couple is not overwhelming, they probably don't even know someone is watching them. It's a goodbye kiss, nothing more, sweet and gentle. Full of love.
Haku can't look away.
The man leans down to hug his child, then smiles at his wife before turning to walk away. He'll be back before nightfall, no doubt, returning to his family and his warm, pleasant home.
"Haku." Zabuza's voice is rough, recalling his attention to where it's supposed to be. He has paused a few paces ahead, looking back at Haku. He doesn't look concerned, only mildly annoyed.
There is only a second's hesitation before Haku tears his eyes away, apologizes, and hurries to catch up to Zabuza.
